Description
This test is primarily used to detect and monitor prostate cancer. It was once a common screening tool for prostate cancer but has largely been replaced by the Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test. However, it still has some clinical applications.
What it measures: The test measures the level of acid phosphatase enzyme in the blood, with a specific focus on the prostatic variety of this enzyme.
